There is no need to leave Ashburton except for the odd day trip to a sandy beach or to explore Dartmoor. Everything is on your doorstep from groceries (Ela’s artisan bakery; Dartmoor butchers; The Fish Deli; The Arc with organic foods and of course not to forget the Co-op and the Spa). Entertain yourself at the Arts Centre in the evening after a lovely vegetarian/vegan supper in the foyer cooked by Rafiki’s restaurant. Or during the day take a picnic to the fabulous outdoor heated swimming pool and sunbathe on the generous lawns followed by a Creamo’s Craft ice cream just round the corner.
In the summer St Lawrence’s chapel, a 600-year-old chantry is open to the public. Look out for the concerts and recitals which regularly take place. If you wish to relax and treat yourself have a beauty treatment; there are at least 3 beauty clinics/salons to choose from. Alternatively, try out some yoga or take a picturesque walk in the local countryside.
