Powderham Castle – on the banks of the River Exe.
The seat of the Earl of Devon. Take an historic tour of the castle and grounds or partake in one of their organised events such as classic car weekends etc. A place also for indoor musical evenings as well as a well-known venue for outdoor concerts.

Walking along the Devon/South Hams Coastline
From Torquay to Brixham. Salcombe to Start Point. Start Point to Torcross. East Prawle to Hallsands. Along the way visit the coastal towns of Torquay, Brixham, Salcombe and Exmouth
Dartmoor National Park
The most ancient moorland to walk in England. Visit Venford Falls near the Venford Reservoir.
Haytor the most famous of all the Dartmoor tors. Climb on to the top of the Tor and see how far the eye can see. Or consider visiting Hound Tor where at the base you will find an abandoned medieval village. Drive or cycle over to Widdecombe-on-the-Moor, which is overlooked by so many Tors, for a local ice cream or stop for lunch or supper at the famous Widdecome Inn or Rugglestone inn and sit among the local ducks and wild life.

If you find yourself in Devon in Spring visit Hollwell Lawn to admire fields of bluebells on the moor. Not to mention the formidable Dartmoor Prison Museum.
Dartington Estate – Take the winding road from Ashburton to Dartington pass the famous Riverford Farm alongside the River Dart.
Have a picnic in the grade II listed gardens or try out the White Hart pub/restaurant for lunch or an evening meal after sitting through a film at the Barn Cinema. Try out the outdoor amphitheatre for a Shakespearean play or book a day course in ceramics; sculpture and basket weaving, or opt for a longer course in grape growing and ecology and many other fascinating subjects. Partake in the annual Music Summer School and festival in the medieval surroundings. If you explore the grounds, you may discover the hidden winding river dart and take a swim in the shallow sandy areas to be discovered.
